Search the Given Words

Loading level…

The Word Search Challenge! A Word Search (or Word Hunt) is a puzzle where you find hidden words inside a grid of random letters. It is a fantastic way to practice all the skills we just learned, like spotting Beginning Sounds, Nouns, and Sight Words.

How to Play a Word Search

  1. Check the Word List: Look at the list of words you need to find.
  2. Scan the Grid: Start at the top left and look for the Beginning Letter of your first word.
  3. Check the Neighbors: Once you find the first letter, look at the letters next to it (up, down, left, right, or diagonal) to see if the second letter is there.
  4. Trace the Word: If you find the whole word, draw a line through it or circle it!

Fun Ways to Practice Word Hunting

  • Sight Word Scavenger Hunt: Have someone write sight words on sticky notes and hide them around the room. See how many you can "search and find" in one minute!
  • Alphabet Soup: Use a bowl of letter crackers or magnets. Try to "search" for the letters to build a Noun like "DOG" or "FISH."
  • Highlighting: Use a highlighter to find and color specific words in an old newspaper or magazine.

Lesson Summary

  • Word searching helps your brain recognize letter patterns.
  • It improves your spelling and reading speed.
  • It's a fun way to use your "detective eyes" to find words.
