What Is the Order of Alphabets?

  • Alphabetical order is the sequence in which letters are arranged from the beginning to the end.
  • There are 26 letters in the English alphabet, starting with A and ending with Z.
  • This is also known as "ABC Order."

The Alphabet Sequence The letters follow a fixed path that never changes:

  • The Beginning: A, B, C, D, E...
  • The Middle: ...L, M, N, O, P...
  • The End: ...X, Y, Z.

Sorting Words in ABC Order To put words in order, we look at the first letter of each word:

  1. Look at the first letter (Example: Bear, Apple, Cat).
  2. Think of the ABC sequence.
  3. Place them in order: Apple (1st), Bear (2nd), Cat (3rd).

Capital and Small Letters Each letter has two "outfits" but stays in the same order:

  • Uppercase (Capital): A, B, C... (Used for names and start of sentences).
  • Lowercase (Small): a, b, c... (Used for the rest of the words).

Why Do We Learn This?

  • It helps us find words in a dictionary or names in a phone book.
  • it helps us organize our books or files on a shelf.
  • Knowing the order makes it much easier to learn how to read and write.

Lesson Summary

  • There are 26 letters in total, from A to Z.
  • We use the first letter of a word to sort things into ABC order.
  • Vowels (A, E, I, O, U) are the special sounds in the alphabet.
